Bernie608From Bernie: I know there is “life” after death. My definition is that what survives our physical death is our consciousness and it is able to communicate with us through the consciousness. As I keep repeating you need to have a quiet mind, like the still pond, so these experiences can be accepted and experienced. So here is what I received and then I will share more.

Hi Bernie

I thought you might enjoy this story. It was quite a memorable experience. Friday was the fifth anniversary of my dad’s passing. I asked mom if she wanted to visit his grave but she wasn’t feeling well so I jokingly said, “If we can’t go see Daddy, maybe he’ll come visit us today.” Then I put the thought out of my mind. Later that day, I went food shopping. About half way through the store, a tall elderly gentleman with silver hair, a slight beard, and sky-blue eyes crossed my path. He looked directly at me. His stare was strong and deliberate; his smile wide and friendly. I smiled back and felt a sadness in my heart missing my dad. A few moments later we passed each other in another aisle. Again, he looked deep into my eyes and flashed the biggest smile my way. Again, I reciprocated. By the third time it felt more than a coincidence and my longing for my dad became stronger.  Our fourth encounter occurred a few moments later in the cereal aisle. As he smiled at me one more time, he jokingly said, “We’ve got to stop meeting like this.” I touched him arm. “You remind me so much of my dad. You could pass for brothers. Today is the fifth anniversary of his passing.” His demeanor softened. “Oh, I’m so sorry”, he said. “How old was your dad?” “Eighty-eight”, I replied. “I’m eighty-eight”, he stated. I felt a chill run through my body. “Now I know my dad is sending me a message. Thank you, sir. You truly made my day.” He smiled once again and we parted ways. Not only did these two men bear a striking physical resemblance, but my dad was a very friendly outgoing man as well. Had he passed someone that frequently in a store, he would have responded with a light-hearted comment similar to this gentleman? This was no coincidence – it was the most powerful and deliberate connection I’ve had with my dad since his passing. Truly a memorable example of eternal love and life. I cried all the way home….

His father goes for a walk in the Connecticut woods and a beautiful butterfly joins him and follows him. He felt a connection to his son and so when he gets home he goes to his son’s room filled with books about and displays of butterflies. He looks up the one following him and finds it is a butterfly only found in South America.

Butterflies are the symbol of transformation and purple butterflies are often used in drawings to symbolize one’s coming death. A year or so after a patient of mine died on the island of Kauai we went there to present a workshop. The evening before my wife rescued a butterfly confused by the bright lights from a store we were in. When we got outside it remained on my wife’s hand or shoulder and refused to fly off. So it went back to our hotel in the rental car and up to our room, refusing to leave us. At bedtime I told my wife to go outside and brush it off so we could get into bed. She came back into the room saying she had done so. I told her to look at her other shoulder. We offered it some honey and while it was eating hopped into bed. By morning it was family and I told it I was going to use it as a symbol at the workshop. I was sure it was my patient’s spirit. I put it into a bag which I opened at the workshop after speaking about butterflies as symbols. The butterfly flew overhead from 9AM till 5Pm when the workshop ended and then flew up and away. That isn’t no coincidence and our home has many photos of the experience.

I have mentioned about children interested in birds and how after their death a bird interrupted an outdoor family wedding, flew in the window during the meeting the mother spoke of this, landed on the highway in her car lane as the mother heard her son’s voice say, “Mom, slow down.” As she came around the turn there was a sheet of ice and a pile up of cars.

Father tells his daughter before he dies that he will watch over her after he is gone. She will know it whenever she sees an eagle because that will be him and his symbol. After his death she moves to an area of the country where there are no eagles to be seen. Her birthday arrives and she receives a gift from a relative she did not know well. When she opens the box she finds a large folded kite and after opening it up sees it is an eagle. When she calls her relative to ask why she is told that she was out shopping saw the kite and knew she had to buy it for her.

After my mom died two things happened. First was my finding over thirty pennies from Heaven, my symbol of God’s presence, in our driveway and everywhere I went and finding them on the way back from our mailbox and not seeing any when walking to it. Second was a call from my mystic friend and former patient who regularly brought me messages from dead patients with their names. She called to say my folks were together again and were being shown around by someone who loved chocolate and cigarettes. I knew it was my friend Elizabeth Kubler-Ross which she confirmed a minute later.

I will leave you to contemplate the nature of life. To quote William Saroyan in his story The Young Man on the Flying Trapeze. It is a trapeze to heaven and when a young man dies he becomes dreamless, unalive, perfect. I guarantee that result to all of you from my personal NDE as a child.

Peace, Love & Healing Healing,
