12-13-23 Chautauqua Movie Night ‘Dreamin’ Wild’ Commentary by David Hoffmeister

David ended the first Living Miracles Chautauqua with a spiritual movie commentary on the movie “Dreamin’ Wild.” Chautauquas expanded and spread throughout rural America until the mid-1920s. The Chautauqua brought entertainment and culture to the whole community with speakers, teachers, musicians, showpeople, preachers, and specialists of the day.

The movie explores the unconscious fears and doubts that arise from pursuing dreams. The story takes place over three decades, starting with the initial album of two brothers, Donnie and Joe, who created a great album at 15. The title of their album, “Dreaming Wild,” is a metaphor for the pursuit of dreams, as it encourages the mind to explore the world of a linear Dreamland. The movie highlights the importance of pursuing dreams softly and finding happiness in the journey. The movie also highlights the importance of embracing the underbelly of guilt and shame in the mind, as Jesus encourages us to dream softly and find happiness in the journey. Overall, “Dreamin’ Wild” is a powerful healing film highlighting the importance of embracing the truth and the journey of self-discovery.
