Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #213

05-05-16   Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #213 features the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, dulcimer and 6- and 12- string acoustic guitars, Craig Harris on congas and marimbas and Bob Sherwood on piano.  Today’s first track is the modal, dulcimer-driven “Softly Walking On The Earth”, a mystical drone in praise of the Mother Earth with an inspiring lyric from Mariam.  “Bring It All Back” is a misty morning song with eastern piano flourishes and slowly transforms into an intense and roof-raising rendition of “I Am The Mother Earth”, an elemental song from the “Vision Quest” album.  “Spirit Of Fire”, also originally recorded for “Vision Quest” is low-key and folky, a prayer to the elements with a lovely and hypnotic vocal from Mariam.  “Waiting For Spring” continues the folk vibe and dreams of warmer days.  Mariam unleashes the psychedelic drones of her DADGAD-tuned Martin 12-string for today’s final piece, the jazzy, swirling “To Grow Into Wonder” a song that builds to a driving crescendo with a blazing rhythm track from Craig and Bob.
