In this episode of Friends with the World, Michelle speaks with Darren Marc Levene—musician, singer-songwriter, Reiki Master, and published author—to explore how music and mantra can open the door to a deeper experience of love and sacred connection. Darren shares his journey from early songwriting and performing in a rock band to creating music rooted in intention, where sound becomes something shared, lived, and experienced together.

From songs that arrive in dreams to leading group singing and mantra gatherings, his work reflects a movement from personal expression into collective presence. As the author of Journey of the Heart: Awakening to Love, Unveiling the Power of the Heart: A Channeled Text, and Create Your Dream Life Now: A Workbook and Guide for Manifesting Your Destiny, Darren also offers insight into his writing process and how his creative work continues to evolve. His upcoming book, I Walk with Jesus: Lessons in Love, Forgiveness, and Freedom, continues this spiritually guided path, reflecting the deepening integration of his teachings through both music and writing.

Together, Michelle and Darren reflect on creativity, presence, and the practices that help us return to what matters most. At its heart, this conversation is about expanding love—through voice, through music, and through the ways we come together.

Darren Marc Levene is a kirtan artist, author, and Reiki Master Teacher who shares heart-centered devotional music at yoga studios, retreats, and festivals across the country. SoulCollage Workshops with Michelle Villegas

Michelle is a certified SoulCollage® facilitator. SoulCollage® is a creative and therapeutic process that combines images, intuition, and self-exploration to create a personal deck of collaged cards. It was developed by Seena Frost, a psychotherapist and author, in the late 1980s.

The process of creating SoulCollage® cards involves selecting images from magazines, books, or other printed materials that resonate with you personally. These images are then cut out and assembled on a card in a way that feels visually appealing or meaningful to you. The resulting collage becomes a unique representation of different aspects of your inner self, desires, dreams, and emotions.

The cards created in SoulCollage® often depict archetypes, personal symbols, or significant themes in one’s life. They can represent various facets of your personality, relationships, life experiences, and spiritual journey. Each card holds personal meaning and can serve as a visual reflection of your inner world.

Once the cards are created, they can be used for self-exploration, introspection, and personal growth. Individuals may engage in various activities and practices with their SoulCollage® cards, such as journaling, meditation, visualization, or using the cards as prompts for self-reflection and dialogue.

Bio: Michelle is a psychotherapist and has been teaching at the graduate level in the field of psychology for over 20 years.

Michelle is a certified HeartMath Practitioner, Reiki Master and Soul Collage Facilitator. As a psychotherapist, she specializes in children and families. She maintains a private practice, is a school counselor and is completing her first children’s book as well.

Michelle is a singer, songwriter and recording artist as well. Her debut song, “Friends with the World” was a collaborative project with her son, Josh Villegas who is a musician and audio engineer. The lyrics of this song will appear in a children’s book written by Michelle that will include social and emotional activities to promote a deeper understanding of our interconnectedness and the meaning of friendship. Her songs are affirming messages that serve to inspire and tend to the heart of humanity.
