Dr Judy’s Guests This Week
Broadcasts Weekly Monday & Tuesday 7am & 7pmET
An Insatiable Passion for Helping Animals
Once again, Dr. Judy welcomes back Daniel Orrego, author, President of KetoPet Sanctuary (KPS), and Vice President of Epigenix Foundation, coming to us from Los Angeles, California. Last year, Daniel enlightened us on the KPS mission to research the ketogenic diet and examine its impact in reversing cancer and extending longevity within the canine rescue community. While Epigenix continues its research in the human arena, the KPS rescue dogs, found with incurable, terminal cancer, continue to be treated with groundbreaking integrated cancer therapy, which includes custom ketogenic diets and loving forever homes – for life! With cancer affecting so many households today, most of us have heard of or are considering the benefits of ketogenic diets for ourselves and/or for our pets. This show provides the perfect opportunity to learn more as Daniel and Dr. Judy discuss approaches to the ketogenic diet, the latest findings on the anti-cancer effects of nutritional ketosis and how they are optimizing animal health, welfare and quality of life. This is an important show for all of us so be sure to tune in!
Hospice: End-of-Life Love
Once again, Dr. Judy’s sister, Sally Morgan, PT, CST, renowned specialist in holistic physical therapy for pets, will guest host the Naturally Healthy Pets radio show this week. Sally is a pioneer in Craniosacral therapy for animals, an advanced Tellington TTouch practitioner, Reiki master, Vibrational healer, manual therapy expert and bestselling author of Dances of the Heart–Connecting With Animals and the accompanying Animal Connection cards. She travels to teach and lives in Massachusetts with her corgi Trystan. Visit her at www.SallyMorganPT.com, on Facebook at Sally Morgan PT CST, and on YouTube at Conversations With A Corgi.
This week, Sally welcomes Dr. Ella Bittel, a holistic veterinarian specializing in veterinary hospice care. Born in Germany, where she graduated from veterinary school in 1994, Dr. Ella worked in California for nearly 20 years, offering the holistic aspects of patient care, such as animal chiropractic, acupuncture, Chinese herbs, laser treatments, craniosacral work and more. An experience with her heart dog, Momo, led her to a passion on improving availability of hospice for animals. Similar as in human care, the goal is to allow an animal to live its life fully and die an unhastened, peaceful death supported by its family at home or in rarer cases when a patient’s comfort cannot be sufficiently maintained, euthanasia is chosen to end hospice care. Dr. Ella’s desire to help those in need resulted in her creation of the first ever online classes on Geriatric, Special-Needs and End-of-Life care for companion animals. Her conference presentations on this include the AVMA, AHVMA and each International Symposium on Veterinary Hospice Care held at UC Davis. In addition, her website, www.spiritsintransition.org, has provided a free, non-veterinary animal hospice helpline for more than a decade. There is a strong trend in modern societies to keep death and dying out of our awareness, leaving us unprepared for a natural conclusion to physical existence. This will be a learning experience for all as Sally and Dr. Ella enlighten us on hospice and natural end-of-life care for our beloved pets.
Judy Morgan DVM, CVA, CVCP, CVFT Bio
Dr. Morgan grew up in Pitman and Woodstown, NJ, where she graduated high school as valedictorian in 1977. In 1980 she graduated from Rutgers with a Bachelor of Science and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. Dr. Morgan is also a certified and accredited veterinary acupuncturist, chiropractitioner, and food therapist.
Based in southern New Jersey, Dr. Morgan currently operates two veterinary hospitals that offer an integrative approach combining holistic medicine with traditional Western techniques. Holistic practices such as chiropractic, acupuncture, food therapy, and herbal therapy, are utilized alongside conventional medicine to provide a full range of veterinary treatment.
The ability to utilize both kinds of therapies offers her clients many more options than using a single method of healing. In many cases, using this approach also allows earlier identification and treatment of impending problems.
Outside of the office Dr. Morgan spends much of her time working with Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and English Toy Spaniel rescue groups by assisting in finding, transporting, and fostering neglected animals. She is Chief Veterinary Medical Officer for Monkey’s House dog hospice and senior sanctuary. She also enjoys public speaking and giving presentations at local and national continuing education venues.
