09-03-20 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #408 was recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, MA, in August of 2020 and is an hour of visionary improvisational music featuring the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, acoustic guitar and ukulele, Robin Rooney on djimbe and vocals, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and native drums. Today’s show begins with the lush, drifting “Into The Mighty Waves”, a bittersweet and deeply emotional piece featuring a lovely vocal from Mariam. “Pray For The Trees” is a hypnotic, minimalist minor piece in praise of the trees of the forest and “Just The Simple Way” is a deep and fundamental jam with a heavy native influence and a driving afro Cuban groove. “Oh The Rains Came” is a gorgeous, sprawling anthem, an epic journey across the rainy sky, and we finish today with “Yellow Black Spiders” reprises the skeletal funk of “Pray For The Trees” with a reggae tint and an imaginative lyric from Mariam.
