04-15-19 A Better Approach to Gut Health!
This week, Dr. Judy is pleased to welcome Holly H. Ganz, PhD, CEO and founder of AnimalBiome, based in San Francisco, California. When she’s not studying the microbiomes of pets and wild life, Holly can be found roaming the East Bay hillsides with her rescued herding dogs, Yuki, Charlie, and Darwin. Holly, who received her PhD from UC Davis in the study of co-evolution between microbes and animals, is a microbial ecologist who has published more than 20 papers. Her efforts to translate academic research into solutions for animal lovers began in 2015 when she launched KittyBiome, a citizen science project that she started while working at UC Davis. From that project, she found that imbalances in the gut microbiome are common in pets and that there is a pressing need for better approaches to maintain gut health and potentially prevent the development of many chronic health conditions. In 2016, she founded AnimalBiome where, using revolutionary science to improve animal health, they provide assessments of the bacterial composition of the digestive tract of dogs and cats and the supplements needed to restore balance to the gut microbiome. Above all, Holly is an animal lover, dedicated to improving health and wellness so you’ll want to listen and learn as she talks about gut health with Dr. Judy and how AnimalBiome is using the latest innovations in microbiology to solve chronic problems.
