01-25-18 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #293 on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 15 2018 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts. The Gaea Star Band are featured, with Mariam Massaro on vocals, acoustic guitar, celtic harp, native flute and percussion, Craig Harris on congas and drums and Bob Sherwood on piano. Today’s first number is Mariam’s lustrous, operatic “Life In The Beauty”, a song of looking within that features wide-ranging piano motifs from Bob above a metronomic acoustic guitar and conga groove. “Holding On To Nothing” showcases Mariam’s lush, evocative native flute and lovely vocals over a wide-ranging series of chordal motifs that shift uneasily amidst electronic washes and pretty native flute excursions. “Castles in The Sky” begins in abstraction with waves of Celtic harp and treated vocals from Mariam before settling into an unhurried epic of expression and minimalism. “Calling In Peace” climaxes the show today in a brief, mystical coda that wraps up today’s themes of spiritual aspiration and simple gratitude.
