“What Does Peace Look Like to YOU?” by Janine Ouellette Sullivan
Recently I saw a story on the news were an older man went to a local cosmetology school and asked if someone could teach him how to use a curling iron. He went on to explain his wife was very ill and could no longer style her hair. He wanted to learn so he could help his wife look and feel a little bit better. A student at the school taught him. To me that looks like peace expressed during a difficult time.
Two ladies were dining at a restaurant for a few hours talking and laughing. That looks like peace.
Rescuing a dog from a shelter looks like peace.
Picking that perfectly ripe apple off a tree then sitting down to savor it. Peace.
Children laughing and playing together definitely looks like peace.
Most of the time I think peace looks like common decency.
Understanding that in order to survive and have a future a symbiotic relationship with people and nature must occur. That’s what peace looks like, understanding more deeply
