08-07-17 Meet the Only Holistic Veterinarian in Northwest Arkansas
In this week’s show, Dr. Judy Morgan talks with author, speaker, educator and holistic veterinarian, Dr. Paula Jo (PJ) Broadfoot of VanBuren, AR, where she uses “all the tools in the toolbox” to restore normal body function to her patients. Dr. Broadfoot, who opened her clinic in 1982, developed a strong interest in nutritional supplements, such as Deer Velvet, for both therapeutic use as well as general wellness. She has a reputation for thinking outside of the box, using supplements and herbs to treat animals when other vets had given up. This has attracted clients from hundreds of miles away willing to drive the distance so she can treat their precious pets. What makes the only holistic veterinarian in Northwest Arkansas attract pet parents from so far away? Be sure to tune in to hear how Dr. Broadfoot uses her skills to care for her patients as well as educating traditional veterinarians to move toward more integrated care.
My dog had a cancerous tumor removed on her leg. Imaging showed no spread in her organs. She also has arthritis and a possible ACL tear in her back leg but due to having three surgeries this year, the vet didn’t recommend additional surgery on her leg and put her on pain meds. She limps around and is uncomforble. She also has allergies and was put on Putin’s Pto Plan HA with no chicken or beef, but this diet has TBHQ as well as corn products. I need to find a dog food to help her that is all natural as well as supplements. Could you help me?
You could have a brace made to support the leg. They are very helpful. One company I like is My Pet’s Brace in Pennsylvania. You might want to check out my book Yin & Yang Nutrition for Pets to research making your own meals for your dog. Also, raw food companies that have single proteins include Answers, Allprovide, Vital Essentials, and Primal. There are others as well.
My shitzu just had a seizure and would like to know what to do. I find no phone number for you. You may call me: 479-957-4739
Thank you

Hi Dr Paula, I live in Garfield AR and have been looking for a holistic vet for a long time. I have many health problems so am trying all natural remedies and also try to do this with my dog. We lost a dog to Cancer (& I believe it’s from the poison tick meds that we put on her every mo for so many years😰). We live in a high tick area and have been trying to use all natural means like Wondercide (essential oils), but she now has Ehrlichiosis and is very sick. Today they gave us Brevecta😘 (and 3 other meds), which I don’t want to use, but afraid I have no other choice. Can you give me any advice or point me in a better direction? Thank you SO much for your help!
God Bless, Karen Wesenberg (& Rosie)🐾♥️

My English bulldog has seasonal dermatitis. She is on a homemade food of spinach carrots yams cauliflower and turkey. What can I do to help her during the spring with her skin allergies (pollen seems to be the problem)?
A lot of dogs will respond well to herbal anti-inflammatories such as: https://drjudymorgan.com/collections/allergy/products/the-great-windkeeper. We have a large selection of allergy products at: https://drjudymorgan.com/collections/allergy As for the diet, I’m hoping that is being balanced for vitamins and minerals. Glad to see she is eating human-grade food!
are the human-grade dog food subscription companies (i.e. the farmer’s dog, etc.) the only foods that will help our dog live healthier and longer?
