01-29-26 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #654 is an hour of improvised visionary acoustic music played by Mariam Massaro and Bob Sherwood of the Gaea Star Band with Mariam on vocals, acoustic guitar, mandolin, marimba, ukulele, and Native flute and Bob on piano and vocals, Recorded on a frigid, snowy afternoon in mid-January of 2026 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today’s show begins with the mysterious and evocative “Oh How Brightly The Light Of Crystalline Beauty Shines”, a gorgeously bittersweet waltz with a fine vocal from Mariam that leads into the rich, multidimensional “Amaryllis Blooming” a sparse yet powerful reel led by Mariam’s chiming mandolin and Bob’s tightly arranged piano accompaniment that sets the stage for a gorgeous flute sonata in its final movement. “Sharing In The Glory” becomes a powerful coda for the prior piece with a hypnotic piano motif and a lovely, shaded melody from Mariam. “Oh, I Want To Always Reflect What Is Right” is a sprightly blues rocker with rollicking acoustic guitar and bluesy piano supporting Mariam’s wide-ranging vocal and Bob takes the microphone for a reflective, emotional take of his song “Mystery” featuring fine Native flute touches and harmonies from Mariam. Mariam takes up the dancing, adventure-evoking marimba part that always heralds her song “Vision Quest” from her eponymous album and the duo unwind a compelling, rhythmic, spacious take of this fine song. Mariam’s classic folk-gospel rocker “Freedom” takes on a powerful, anthemic quality as Mariam delivers its powerful message in trying times and we complete today’s show with “Oh, Rainbow Sweet Delight”, a gorgeous, relaxed ballad with sensitive acoustic guitar, decorative piano ostinatos and another fine vocal from Mariam.
