10-09-25 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #640 is an hour of intrepid, visionary acoustic improvised music played by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, double flutes, shruti box, acoustic guitar, 8- and 4-string ukuleles and mandolin, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on Native drum and congas. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in late September of 2025, today’s show begins with the dancing, sprightly “Oh, There’s Time To Weave It All Together”, a pretty folk song led by Mariam’s leaping vocal and chiming 8-string ukulele. Next up is the powerful “May We Seek Our True Self”, a profound message expressed by Mariam and supported by an inspired piano motif from Bob and “Let’s Greet The Moment” is a dramatic, minimalist groove set up by Craig’s steady conga work and Mariam’s steady ukulele. “Wizards In Hiding” is a mystical, bluesy invention with racing, riffing piano and “Oh, Mother Nature’s Serenity” is another racing, skipping autumn anthem with a fine, imaginative vocal from Mariam above her twangy, evocative mandolin. “Goodbye Moonlight” is a gorgeous classical art song with excellent contributions from the whole ensemble supporting Mariam’s energized, ambitious vocal and “Solare” is a fantastical, unusual song from Mariam’s “Release” album, played with drive, sensitivity and élan by The Gaea Star Band. “Oh For The Beauty (Let It Take You Home)” is a pretty, delicate folk song supported by Mariam’s acoustic guitar and Craig’s steady, heartbeat Native drum that weaves clouds of piano with Mariam’s deeply poetic, emotional vocal. Today’s show concludes with a tight, inspired take of Mariam’s island song “Shamiyaya” also from the “Release” album.
