11-04-21 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #466 is an hour of acoustic visionary acoustic improv music featuring the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, Celtic harp, acoustic guitar, ukulele and dulcimer, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on Native drums and congas. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, in October of 2021, today’s show begins with the lovely, meditative “Make The Best”, a soft folk ballad with a fine melody and Native flute passages from Mariam. “It’s Just That Way” picks up the tempo and continues the folk theme, this time with Mariam on ukulele over a skipping groove from Craig, and “Sweet La Luna” is something of a Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour staple, and ode the the moon, this time presented in a gentle folk frame with gospel piano from Bob and a deeply affecting melody from Mariam. “Jophie Swinging In The Banyan Tree” is a pretty, melodic representation of a certain monkey driven by Mariam’s acoustic guitar and the steady, earthy pulse of Craig’s Native drum. “May I Embrace Every Moment With Grace” is a gentle, lilting prayer to acceptance with a lush, Eastern melody from Mariam over a stately rhythm from the band and “Oh, May We All Be Grateful” is a sprawling, adventurous raga with gorgeous Native flute passages from Mariam and mystical piano figures from Bob. We finish today’s show with “Oh, Sweetly”, a deeply peaceful meditation from the band featuring fanfares from Mariam’s lyrical native flute.
