03-18-21 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #434 was recorded in early March of 2021 and is an hour of visionary acoustic improv music featuring the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native flute, ukulele, acoustic guitar and shrudi box, Robin Rooney on vocals, percussion, kalimba and djembe, Craig Harris on congas and Native drums and Bob Sherwood on piano and percussion. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today’s show begins with the sprightly, hopeful spring anthem “Aphrodite Rising” featuring fine vocals from Mariam and Robin. “Goddess Of The Light” is a sparse, lovely folk ballad with dancing piano figures from Bob and “The Passage of Time” is a powerful Native raga with powerful flute from Mariam and evocative piano from Bob. Mariam strums her lustrous 8-string ukulele to form the backbone of the lovely ballad “Deliver Me” and “Welcome From The Forest” is a powerful, elemental dance with a syncopated rhythm section and fine native flute from Mariam. We conclude today with the lush, evocative minor tour de force “The Crystalline Temple”, a mystical piece that supports an adventurous and otherworldly story from Mariam.
