01-14-21 This week on the Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #426 we present the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, acoustic guitar, dulcimer and ukulele, Robin Rooney on vocals and djembe, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and native drums. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, MA, today’s show begins with the driving raga of “As We Walk Upon This Earth”, a swirling, mystical prayer to the earth propelled by Mariam’s dulcimer and the powerful rhythm section of Craig and Robin. “Oh, The Moon Is Singing” is a beautifully naïve, innocent song for the night sky featuring lilting, affecting ukulele from Mariam above Bob’s lovely, baroque framework and “Oh To The Greatness” is a sweet, stately gospel ballad with gorgeous vocals and deeply reverent flute from Mariam. Mariam strums her chiming acoustic guitar for the lovely, languid minor ballad “I Sing For Freedom”, a mystical piece decorated with midnight piano from Bob and fine percussion from Craig and Robin. “To The River I Go” is a panoramic musical journey featuring a compelling lyric from Mariam and fine backing vocals from Robin and “Surrender” closes today’s show with flourishes from Mariam’s 8 string ukulele and a lovely, innocent musical setting that evokes hope and positive progression.
