10-22-20 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #415 is an hour of acoustic visionary improv music recorded at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington MA in October of 2020. Featuring the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, harmonica, ukulele, native flute and acoustic guitar, Robin Rooney on djimbe and vocals, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas, today’s show begins with the driving blues folk of “Let It Ring Out”, driven along by a circular blues piano part from Bob and Mariam’s rocking harmonica. Next up is the ukulele-led high energy folk of “Puffy In The Moonlight”, a tale of cats and raccoons featuring blazing, Ray Charles influenced piano from Bob and a steady, driving rhythm. “Sailing Along Just Fine” is a lush country with a touching vocal from Mariam and Robin and “Daddy Long Legs On The Water” is a gorgeous ballad led by Mariam’s chiming acoustic guitar and Robin’s flowing chimes. Mariam plays her silvery eight-string ukulele for “Thank You For This Beautiful Day” and we finish today with “Dedication For Indigenous People’s Day”, a celebration of the holiday presented in an ambitious, sprawling series of compelling movements held together by Mariam’s sacred native flute and vocals.
