09-10-20 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #409 is an hour of visionary, inspired acoustic improvisational music featuring the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on lead vocals, acoustic guitar, ukulele, native flute and sitar, Robin Rooney on djimbe, percussion and vocals, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and native drums.  Taped live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, in August of 2020, today’s show begins with the pretty, vibrant “Cast Your Net”, a lush, wonder-filled summer song driven by Mariam’s silvery 8-string ukulele and a driving drum track from Craig and Robin.  Mariam picks up her acoustic guitar to lead the mystical, drifting “Jupiter”, a gorgeous minor meditation with powerful vocals from Mariam and evocative piano motifs from Bob.  “As You Walk Along” takes a deep breath and floats in on waves of Mariam’s native flute and delicate piano figurations before yielding to a compelling vocal-and-native-flute dialogue and inspired lyrics from Mariam.  “Illuminated By The Rain” carries a slow-burn Afro Cuban by way of Eastern Europe vibe with it’s bittersweet harmonic minor and compelling vocal from Mariam.  We finish today with the epic raga “Song Of Creation” built around Mariam’s lush, otherworldly sitar and Bob’s insistent eastern motif.
