10-17-19 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #368
Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour is an hour of acoustic visionary musical improvisation from The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, ukulele, acoustic guitar and celtic harp, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and native drums. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, MA, today’s show begins with the gentle acoustic folk of “Finding Our Way Through Life”, a languid slice of Americana that leads into “Love Feels So Good”, a mystical, raga-like piece featuring a thick layer of overdubs and compelling native flute from Mariam. “As The Seasons Change” brings an autumnal chill and crispness to the hour with evocative, minimalist piano from Bob over a driving ukulele and conga groove. Next up is the sunny, naïve “Keep Shining Brightly”, a vehicle for a hopeful, loving prayer from Mariam, followed by the pretty, relaxed ballad “Just Keep On Turning The Page Of Life”, a lush and varied piece that visits classical areas with Bob’s baroque piano figures and Mariam’s studied, precise and controlled native flute work. “Restore” is a beautiful ballad in praise of caring for the earth from Mariam’s “Vision Quest” album, followed by the intense, powerful, elemental “I Am The Mother Earth”, another song from “Vision Quest” that never fails to inspire awe and wonder at the power of nature. We finish today with the mysterious, supernatural “Ryalia”, a song from Mariam about a priestess of the forest and the reverence shown to her by the woodland creatures.
