Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour is an hour of visionary acoustic improvisation by the Gaea Star Band and songs by Mariam Massaro featuring Mariam on vocals, native flute, celtic harp, ukulele and acoustic guitar, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and native drums. Recorded live in August 2019 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today’s show begins with the contemplative “I’m Always Right Within”, a mesmerizing improvised piece that grows flowerlike from Mariam’s flute fanfares. “Moon Goddess Of The Night” is a swirling, mystical piece led by Mariam’s acoustic guitar and “Grateful For The Beautiful Day” is a song of praise with a bouncing folk vibe and lush, American classical piano from Bob. “Healing Rain” is a shaded, minor key contemplation that presents a low-key drama in its lovely evocation of a rain storm. “Come On Down” continues the vibe of “Healing Rain” with a lift in tempo and more chiming ukulele from Mariam, and “Raising The Bar Of Love” contains a lovely tension and dissonance courtesy of Bob’s unusual piano figures and Mariam’s agreeably chaotic narrative. “Softly Sweetly Soothing” finishes today’s show with a calm, understated return to peace and contemplation.
