02-14-19 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #341
Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour is an hour of improvised visionary acoustic music recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts featuring the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, ukulele, kalimba, acoustic guitar and sitar, Bob Sherwood on piano and tabla and Craig Harris on congas and native drums. Today’s first song is the swirling, wintery “A Warm February Day” which features a fine vocal from Mariam and a driving, imaginative rhythm track from the band led by Mariam on ukulele. “Sominaiya” flows gently from the first track, brought in by Mariam’s kalimba and a lush piano figure from Bob. This lush track incorporates many imaginative turns ands motifs and a relaxing series of melodies and spoken word from Mariam. “Everything Is Arriving Right On Time” is a bluesy folk waltz driven by Mariam’s acoustic guitar featuring an inspiring message from Mariam and “Restore” is a beautiful, inspiring song in praise of protecting Mother Earth, a classic song of Mariam’s rendered here with a gorgeous ease and deep feeling. “Swirls and Patterns” is another pretty acoustic guitar-driven piece that features a mesmerizing percussion track with Craig on congas and Bob on tabla. Mariam picks up her sitar for today’s last two songs, the mystical raga “Lakshmi” and the sprawling, ambitious “Rays Of Love” which features gorgeous native flute work from Mariam and a hypnotizing series of eastern piano themes from Bob.
