11-30-17 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #285 was taped at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts and features the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, acoustic guitar, native flute, celtic harp and , Craig Harris on balaphone and congas and Bob Sherwood on piano. Today’s first track is the psychedelic epic “To Begin Again”, a mystical journey underpinned by a drifting rhythm of acoustic guitar, echoing piano and steady congas. “Anything You Want To Be” drifts in as a lush, spacious, futuristic ballad led by Mariam’s poignant vocal, native flute and cascading harp. Mariam strums lustrous chords on her acoustic 12-string for the somber, elegiac “Taking It All Away”, a powerful piece of resistance underpinned by an insistent, minimalist piano figure from Bob. We finish with a lovely, throw-back pop song called “Slip On Through” driven by a ’50’s piano figure and featuring a fine vocal from Mariam.
