12-22-16   Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #242 is an engaging hour of songs and improvisations with Mariam Massaro on vocals, 6- and 12-string acoustic guitars, native flute and percussion and Bob Sherwood on piano. At Singing Brook Studio We begin with “Water”, Mariam’s lovely romantic classical piece from the “Vision Quest” album which today we perform as a prayer for the water protectors of Standing Rock.  Next up is the psychedelic jazz of “Calling On The Light/Rivers Of Rain” which features Mariam’s native flute and electronically treated piano from Bob.  Moving from sophisticated jazz to gospel to minimalism this sprawling, ambitious piece is also dedicated to the Water Defenders.  “You Choose Your Path” is an understated, folky lullaby with a beautiful vocal from Mariam.  “Room Of Doubt” is an acoustic take on the number from Mariam’s 2009 CD “Gaea Star Crystal:  Awakening The Tribes Of Light” and “Going Down Deep” is a lush, gorgeous dancing thing with a far eastern vibe, a pretty vocal from Mariam and a rhythm bed of lustrous acoustic guitar and chiming piano.  “Shamatini Uncovers Elestial Crystal” is a chapter from Mariam’s “Gaea Star Crystal” screenplay presented over a soundtrack of 12-string guitar and piano and “Now Is The Time” completes the show with dramatic piano from Bob and a drifting, mystical vocal from Mariam.
