Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #223

07-14-16   Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #223 features the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, celtic harp, native flute, baritone ukulele and sitar, Craig Harris on congas and marimba and Bob Sherwood on piano with very special guest Gino Cicchetti who always brings an extra touch to the proceedings with his considerable skill on acoustic 12-string, flute and mandolin.  Today’s opening number is the shifting, beautiful meditation “Gentle Wind Dancing” which features some exquisite flute passages from Gino as he duets with Mariam’s floating, evocative vocal.  Mariam moves to the sitar for the compelling “Om Shanti (May We Return To Our True Colors)” as Gino takes over on harp.  Bob and Craig lay down a circular, bass-heavy rhythm that grows into a jazzy chordal workout behind Mariam’s shimmering sitar and prayerful vocal.  “Mokumbay (Orion In The Night Sky”) is a bouncing, island-flavored folk song with Mariam’s ukulele and Gino’s mandolin dancing over the rock-steady rhythm.  “Let’s Step On The Button and Change The World” is inspired by the guitarist’s stomp-box and is a peaceful, compelling trance piece with a message of change sung beautifully by Mariam and “I’m Walking With The Sun Shining” and “Goddess Of The Night” is a celestial song from Mariam with more great mandolin from Gino.  Mariam returns to the sitar as well as beautiful native flute for today’s closer, the mysterious “La Luna”.
