05-19-16 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #215 comes to you live from Singing Bridge Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts on a rainy spring day. Today we feature the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, tenor ukulele, native flute, celtic harp and dulcimer, Dameron Midgett on classical guitar, mandolin and didjeridoo, Craig Harris on congas and marimbas and Robert Sherwood on piano. Today’s first piece is the haunting “Phoebe Returned”, an elemental prayer to spring. “I Am Here Now” is a stately ballad of inspiration featuring Mariam’s evocative native flute and Dameron’s Spanish-flavored acoustic guitar. “Celebrating Walking Gently On The Earth” finds Mariam moving to the dulcimer for a sprightly, driving drone with a percolating percussion backdrop and fluttering, dramatic piano. Mariam plays mystical runs on the harp for “Ruby Flowers Are Floating By”, a beautiful, wide motif that evokes a clear-skied spring day. Today’s last piece, Mariam’s “White Owl In The Night” is a bluesy minor folk song that floats and mesmerizes.
