06-04-15 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #167 unfolds on a hot, summery afternoon at Singing Bridge Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts and features a series of nimble, imaginative songs and improvisations from the Gaea Star Band beginning with the eastern minor-key charm of Mariam’s “Spring Has Sprung”. Mariam moves from native flute to kalimba to the tenor ukelele for the spacious and yearning “Golden Grateful”, a set of movements that come to rest on a theme influenced by Copland’s “Appalachian Spring” symphony and an inspiring invitation to summer from Mariam. After the break we revisit a couple of Mariam’s songs “Thunderbeings” from the Gaea Star Goddesses album and “Rainbows Of Light” from the Vision Quest album. Closing the show is the somber and slowly-blossoming “Ojay Kuway”, an improvisation that floats from an unsettled, cloudy ambience to a beautifully disquieting cycle of falling chords.
