04-30-15  “Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #163 is a contemplative, relaxed and spacious session of songs and  improvisations featuring Mariam Massaro on vocals, guitars and ukelele, Sondra Lewis on vocals and beautifully steady and understated percussion and Bob Sherwood on piano and vocals.  Today’s first piece is the stately “You Never Know” a song of passing and rebirth and the return to source that is dedicated to long-time Gaea Star Crystal Radio stalwart Dameron Midgett’s uncle Fritz Bell on his passing.  “Gathering Together”, a misty, subtle piece with a minor modality in which Mariam sings of friendship and love and acceptance with lovely commentary from Sondra.  Following this lovely, prayerful piece is “Thank You”, a lovely improvisation that features Mariam on her Martin acoustic 12-string and Sondra reading from Mariam’s first book, “Blessed by Light-Filled Love:  The Divine Teachings Of Ashento”.  “Returning To Love” extends “Thank You”s underlying theme as it flows into a sparse, dreamy, eastern-flavored improvisation.  We return from the break with the whimsical “Oh Let Love Fly” which features Mariam’s playful, driving ukelele and a ragtime-flavored piano bed from Bob.  Rounding out the hour are powerful renditions of two songs from Mariam’s “Smooth Sailin’ Love” album, “Sail Into The Universe” and “Twin Flames”.
