Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #120

07-03-14  “Gaea Star Band percussionist Craig Harris joins us today as well as singer Amanda Pollock as we spin Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #120.  We begin with the driving improv “Summer Raga” which features Tom Fair and Mariam Massaro on dueling dulcimers, Craig on congas, Bob Sherwood on tambourine and Amanda on vocals and percussion.  Bob moves to piano for the second movement bringing the tonal motif from eastern drone to western harmony, as one does.  Next up is the mysterious “Elements”, a piece that honors the crystals of Gaea Star as listed by Amanda’s narration.  Mariam moves to tenor ukelele and provides melodic counterpoint.  After the break we present the rocking, mystical, improvised “Inspiration” and finish up with a sprawling take of Mariam’s folksy ‘River Song” featuring Tom Fair’s banjo and Mariam’s Martin 12 string acoustic.”
