10-29-20 Gaea Star Crystal Radio #416 was recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in October of 2020 and features visionary acoustic improvisation with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, acoustic guitar, dulcimer and ukulele, Robin Rooney on djimbe and vocals, Craig Harris on congas and native drums and Bob Sherwood on piano. We begin today with the sprightly, ancient British Isle raga of “We Have Arrived”, a dramatic piece driven by Mariam’s dancing dulcimer and imaginative piano from Bob. “No More Waiting” is a deeply felt minor key ballad with Mariam on acoustic guitar and “Oh The Journey” is a mystical, evocative cloud of a piece that arrives and departs softly and emotionally. “Reawakening” is stage-set with Mariam and her gentle ukulele before a healthy dose of drama is injected via Bob’s piano. “Brightly” is a native-influenced tone poem from Mariam to the power of nature and “Grateful We’re Shining” sets the stage for extensive, evocative flute passages from Mariam. We finish today with Mariam’s classic Hawaiian folk song “Shamiyaya” given a beautiful, and deeply felt reading with dancing ukulele and imaginative, flowing piano.
