Show Description:

Paperclips & Periods is a mental health podcast under Dual Minds Integrative Psychiatry focused on women’s emotional wellbeing, healing, and identity. The conversations center real life mental health experiences with a thoughtful blend of clinical insight and lived experience, offering support and clarity for women navigating complex inner and outer worlds.

Paperclips represent the coping skills women rely on to keep going. They are the routines, survival strategies, humor, and temporary supports that hold life together when things feel overwhelming. Not everything in mental health is fixed or cured. Paperclips are not failures. They are resilience in real time, especially during seasons when women are carrying more than they can easily hold.

Periods represent boundaries, endings, and moments of clarity. They mark the point when a pattern is recognized, a truth is named, or a relationship, belief, or behavior is no longer serving wellbeing. Sometimes the most therapeutic choice is knowing when something needs to end and having the courage to say this stops here.

Paperclips & Periods blends personal experience with professional perspective. The hosts are nurses, and that lens informs the conversations without overshadowing the humanity at the center of the work. Mental health is explored as something lived in the body, relationships, and daily life, not just understood intellectually.

Each episode explores topics such as anxiety, trauma, ADHD, grief, motherhood, identity, loss, and healing through two perspectives: what it feels like to live it and what helps people heal. The discussions are grounded in integrative psychiatry and trauma informed care, while remaining accessible, honest, and deeply human.

Mental health is not linear. Healing is not clean or predictable. Some days require coping tools to get through the moment. Other days require clarity to end what is causing harm. Paperclips & Periods is about honoring both and learning when each one matters.
