09-19-14 Topic: Open Hearts, and the Spirit of Love: A Conversation with Jim Britt

In this lively exploration of this most important, central aspect of all our lives – once again noted author, public speaker, and personal coach (he is the one who mentored the fantabulous Tony Robbins), Jim Britt, spends some quality time with Dr. Miller. Jim is a regular visitor on “Conversations With Extraordinary People,” and each time their interaction is creative, entertaining, engaging, wise, and friendly.” This time they explore the tender, yet deep, passion of Love. Each year we celebrate Valentine’s day, which is basically a holy day of our culture, that special time during which we honor that amazing state of euphoria and connection that so transforms us whenever we fall in love. We will speak of the ancient origin of this theme and its evolution from the spirit of St. Valentine to the special relationships we are forming in our lives.

We will examine such questions as, “What is this thing called love?” and “Why is it so important, this infatuated state that makes everything seem so beautiful, and how can we make that passion and openness to beauty an ongoing experience in all our lives?”

As you will learn, this is possible – and becomes more possible as we appreciate the importance of Presence and Connection.

The conversation will touch on the ways that each partner’s perceived needs for Acceptance and Control can either enhance a relationship – or torpedo it. Have you ever considered (or noticed) how decisions about relationships that you made during times of abuse in your childhood (and who has not been abused – at least spiritually?) tend to recreate themselves in your current relationships? We have been trained, and will continue to experience Groundhog Day until we act intentionally to change things. You will learn a way to address this challenge.

Next, Jim and Emmett will explore the importance of looking responsibly at yourself and how to ask yourself questions that will help the beauty of a relationship be sustained and grow. Finally, we close with a sensitive meditation and guided imagery experience designed to awaken the power of love within, discover its continuous presence, and sustain it on an ongoing basis. Imagine yourself as a different person being in relationship to you. Now ask yourself, “How would it be to be my friend? To be my spouse or main squeeze?” “How would it feel to be talked to that way by me, to be treated in that way?” “On the basis of my behavior, how would it feel to be in intimate relationship with you – or to be made love to by you?” Ask yourself that, then be sure to tune in . . .

As a coach and trainer, Jim leverages his skills and experience as one of the leading experts in peak performance, entrepreneurship and personal empowerment to produce stellar results. Jim Britt is the author of numerous best-selling books and programs. He is an internationally recognized business leader who is highly sought after as a keynote speaker for all audiences, was recently named as one of the top 20 living success coaches, and was presented with the “Best of the Best” award out of the top 100 contributors of all time to the Direct Selling industry. Jim has mentored several of today’s top name motivational speakers, and was the man who gave a young Anthony Robbins his first real job and mentored him for the next five years. He is really worth your paying attention to!
