Candace Plattor, M.A., R.C.C. is the author of two books, Loving an Addict, Loving Yourself: The Top 10 Survival Tips for Loving Someone with an Addiction, and Loving an Addict, Loving Yourself: The Workbook, and knows from personal experience what it means to be an addict. Within a year of being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in 1973, she found herself in the throes of prescription drug addiction, which included such medications as Valium, Codeine and Demerol. She also gradually became addicted to marijuana, becoming a daily pot smoker. After nearly 15 years of abusing mind-altering substances, Candace reached “bottom” in 1987 and asked for help. Thus began her journey of recovery and self-discovery. She currently enjoys 29 years clean and sober. Both of Candace’s books have each won several International Book Awardsand USA Book Awards, and are currently used in a variety of treatment programs throughout North America.
