08-13-26 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #681 is an hour of inspired, visionary acoustic improvised music featuring the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, acoustic 6- and 12-string guitars, ukulele, mandolin, Celtic harp, shruti box and Native flute, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on djembe, congas and Native drum. Recorded live in early August of 2026 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts, today’s dynamic hour begins with the mellow, shaded 12-string drone raga “Let’s Be Outside To Revel In The Glory of Nature”, a mystical, floating piece with an insistent minor feel, detailed piano, throbbing Native drum and chiming 12 string framing Mariam’s mysterious lyric. “Wonders Evermore (Touching Deep Within You)” is a lush, summer-soaked reverie opening with a fanfare of soaring Native flute and “Calling Us To Exclamations of Expression” is a sweeping, roaming epic folk song led by Mariam’s expressive acoustic guitar and dramatic, powerful piano. “Oh Peace” is an evocative, hallucinatory forest mambo, Craig’s fundamental Native drum and Bob’s jazzy piano creating an unusual, addictive groove under Mariam’s powerful vocal and “Oh, Watching The Birds By The River” is a pretty, acoustic-guitar led folk song with a lovely melody in a languid dance with concise, mirroring commentary from the piano. “Fields So Green” is an ecstatic sunset song driven along with Mariam’s chiming guitar and lovely, delicate piano motifs and “Celebrating With Faeries On a Magic Carpet of Light” lives up to its name with an exotic shruti box drone, soaring Native flute and vocal duets and a series of gorgeous piano harmonizations from Bob. Today’s show concludes with another mysterious 12-string raga, the powerful, inscrutable “Emerald Crystalline Temple”, a celebration of swirling guitar, pumping Native drum and imaginative piano topped with a mystical, narrative vocal from Mariam.
