07-16-26 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #677 is an hour of dynamic, visionary acoustic improvised music from the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, Native and double flute, mandolin, ukulele, kalimba, acoustic guitar and Celtic harp, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and Native drum. Recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in early July of 2026, today’s show begins with the magical “Life Is Good And Sweet And Caring (Most Of The Time)”, a mesmerizing ballad with soaring Native flute and vocals from Mariam and “Precious Moments To Share” is a gorgeous pop/folk number with chiming ukulele and an inspired piano figure topped with Mariam’s joyful vocal. “Luminous Light Behind The Clouds” is an austerely beautiful, harmonically modern and inventive neoclassic piece touched with electronics and featuring a mysterious, winding vocal from Mariam and “Feeling The Beauty” is an emotional ballad to the things we value the most deeply set to steady, skipping congas, exotic kalimba and yearningly composed piano that winds themes from Joni Mitchell’s “Blue” with rich extrapolations and inventions. “Let’s All Call Home” is another powerful, harmonically rich ballad featuring soaring, emotional vocals and Native flute from Mariam above a tapestry of bittersweet minor piano motifs and “Dance With Me Oh Sweet One” is a richly powerful piece full of tempestuous mystery built around Mariam’s eldritch mandolin and steady, full-voiced congas. Mariam strums her acoustic guitar for today’s powerful closer, the sweet, gently passionate “Even In The Rain”, a rich folk song with powerful contributions from the ensemble.
