Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #319

08-16-18 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #319 was recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts and features the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, native flute, acoustic guitar and ukulele, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and native drums.  Special guest today is Sondra Lewis on vocals and percussion.  Today’s first piece is a flute-driven native meditation called “Hearts In The Sun” and features a fine lyric from Mariam and lush support from Sondra.  “Children Of The Stars” and “Golden Girls” are live takes of Mariam’s songs from her “Songs For The Children!” cd.  “Over And Over Again” is a meditative, mystical piece with an ancient, earthy tone and features fine native flute from Mariam and casually virtuosic piano from Bob.  “Greetings From The Forest” is a pretty, hypnotic ode to the summer forest built around a compelling, simple piano figure and “Voices Of Dissent” is a bluesy, ragtime-flavored prayer in honor of activism and “Three Little Sisters” is a whimsical folk tale driven by Mariam’s ukulele.  Today’s final number is “Ayana Oh Way” is a stately, powerful ballad laced with lush, lyrical native flute from Mariam.
