08-11-16  Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #226 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts.  Today the core of the Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, baritone ukulele, dulcimer, native flute and acoustic guitar, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on congas and marimba, present a series of improvised pieces based on the inspirational lyrics and melodies of Mariam Massaro.  Today’s first song is a driving, modal rocker about the adventures of Portio Finelli, a gypsy couple, a mare in foal and the moonlit forest.  The beautiful, contemplative “Mashini, Mermaids Of The River” follows, given a tribal edge by Craig’s marimba accompanying Mariam’s prayerful melody and flowing flute.  “River of Love” continues and expands the previous movement and features a compelling voice-and-flute conversation from Mariam.  “Jophey The Monkey” is a fine take of Mariam’s song that was featured on the Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour a couple of years ago.  Bob’s piano and Mariam’s native flute create a seamless segue into an interesting minor-keyed rendition of Mariam’s “Make The Best” and we wrap up today’s show with a take of Mariam’s “Sing Down The Walls” from her 2009 CD “Gaea Star Crystal:  Awakening The Tribes Of Light”.
