07-02-15    “Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #171 is recorded on a beautiful June 1st at Singing Bridge Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts and features the full Gaea Star Band complement of Mariam Massaro, Dameron Midgett, Sondra Lewis, Robert Sherwood and Craig Harris.  We begin with Mariam’s moving “Homage- Prayer For The Boat People” featuring Mariam on vocals and baritone ukelele, Sondra Lewis on vocals and percussion, Dameron on mandolin, Bob on piano and Craig on congas.  The veiled, mysterious “It’s A Misty, Rainy Kind Of Day” is next, a jazzy minor workout featuring fine percussion from Sondra and Craig.  “Oh So Many Earth Changes” is another mystical, minor improvisation led by Mariam’s always-authoritative native flute.  Mariam switches back to bari uke for the lovely “When We Open To The Day” which features rollicking blues piano from Bob and morphs into “Lakshmi, Goddess Of Abundance” a rocking improv that features Dameron’s banjo and Mariam’s acoustic 12-string.  We close with the simple, open folk of “It’s All About The Seeds”, an ode to unmodified, unadulterated seeds and plants.”
