08-20-18 Using Food as Medicine
This week, Dr. Judy welcomes Dr. Ruth Roberts. DVM, CVA, CFT, a colleague in holistic, integrative veterinary medicine practicing in John’s Island, South Carolina. Using a combination of eastern and western veterinary medicine to treat her patients, she also provides people with information to help guide healthcare choices with alternatives to traditional veterinary medicine alone. While her life’s mission to help animals started at a very young age, it wasn’t until several years ago, where a wild ride with her own health as well as issues with her beloved aging dog, Arnold, caused her to realize Western medicine only helped so much. It was then that Dr. Roberts began pursuing acupuncture and Eastern Veterinary Medicine at the Chi Institute in Florida, opening up many new avenues but most importantly revealing the healing powers of acupuncture, as well as herbal and food therapy. This eventually led to her developing The Original CrockPET Diet™ (TOCPD), fulfilling her desire to incorporate a more natural way of healing into pets’ everyday lives. Educating is key as Dr. Roberts emphasizes our pet’s best health starts in the bowl, and how home cooking guarantees we know what goes into our pet’s food – and what doesn’t! Even if you’ve never considered home cooking, tune in so you can hear these two experts in TCVM discuss how changes in your pets’ diet can bring about positive change in health and overall quality of life.
