Katharine S. Ayers, author of From Frozenness to Freedom is an artist who has lived in the Hawaiian Islands for the past thirty years. Her interest in writing began with English courses at Vassar College. “Since then I have continued to journal, write poetry and prose,” she reflects.

She received her professional training at the Art Center School of Los Angeles and with many well-known artists. During art school she experienced healing through chiropractic and was inspired to become a Chiropractor. After practicing for ten years, she realized that emotions and belief systems affect the body profoundly, so she returned to college and received a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology. She does body orientated counseling, like Hakomi and Bodynamics integration. “I’ve taken many art therapy classes and which has benefited me personally as well as professionally. To me, art and art therapy and experiential painting are all powerful tools for transformation.”

Currently she resides in Maui, where she continues her healing practice, paints, writes poetry and prose, and walks her dog, Rosie, in the forest and the beach. http://ksayers.homestead.com/ http://www.katharinestoneayers.com/

In From Frozenness to Freedom, Katharine Ayers has written a powerful account of her transformational journey using the tool of process painting. Her gripping story of personal confrontation and creative breakthrough speaks to the deeper resources available to us all when we trust the intuitive messages coming from the psyche. Her courage and persistence in the face of overwhelming fear break wide open into a dimension of uninhibited free expression and profound insight. Katharine – thank you for giving such beautiful form to this one-of-a-kind exploration! – Stewart Cubley, co-author of Life, Paint and Passion, Reclaiming the Magic of Spontaneous Expression
