05-25-26 Honoring the Fallen, Supporting the Living

On this episode of the Make Mental Health Matter Show, host Kelli Melissa Reinhardt shares a heartfelt solo episode centered around the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend or holiday. It is a day of remembrance for the brave men and women who lost their lives in service to our country. Kelli reflects on the importance of honoring their sacrifice while also recognizing the emotional impact carried by the military members, veterans, and families left behind.

For many who made it home, the journey did not end when their service did. Countless active military members and veterans live with grief, trauma, PTSD, survivor’s guilt, and the loss of friends and fellow service members they served beside. Kelli discusses how meaningful support, compassion, connection, and community can truly become life changing for those who may be struggling silently.

This episode also highlights simple yet powerful ways civilians can better support veterans, active military members, and military families, even for those who may not openly talk about what they are carrying. From creating safe spaces and meaningful conversations to connecting people with helpful resources and community support, small actions can make a lasting difference.

As we honor those who never made it home, we must also remember the families who continue to carry the weight of sacrifice every day. Their stories, grief, resilience, and healing matter too.

Join Kelli for this important conversation about remembrance, compassion, mental health, and the power of showing up for those who have served.
