07-02-26 Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #675 is an hour of dynamic, adventurous visionary acoustic improvised music played live by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, acoustic guitar, ukulele, mandolin, sitar, Native flute, double flute and harmonica, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on Native drum and djembe. Today’s hour, recorded live at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts in late June of 2026, begins with the drifting, lilting acoustic guitar ballad “Authenticity” before Mariam plays her chiming, evocative mandolin on the beautifully spontaneously composed “Somebody Walked Before You” with an airy, spacious mood and a fine, widely-ranging vocal. “Ausangate” celebrates the high Peruvian Andes with a mystical, steady, pulsing rhythm track topped with Mariam’s mysterious, spiritual lyric and for the gorgeous “Living In The Majesty” guest Seth Martin steps in to play beautiful, echoing modal kalimba as Mariam soars on her psychedelic, overtone-producing double flute. “Summertime” is a Gaea Star Band tradition where the ensemble expresses the utmost possible joy at the arrival of summer backing an evocative summer travelogue from Mariam. “Singing The Same Songs Of Life” is an epic, sprawling blues extemporization decorated with Mariam’s bluesy harmonica sharing center stage with her fine vocal atop a bed of pulsing Native drum and Ray Charles piano. “Trust” from the Gaea Star Crystal LP is giving an energetic airing with driving djembe and acoustic guitar and we complete today’s show with the drifting, hallucinogenic raga “Lotus Queens” for which Mariam strums her exotic sitar and our guest Seth adds drone from the shruti box.
